The theme for this month is LOVE….what we all want more of, right? At least that’s what my clients and friends and even strangers talk about…so I have a question for you? Are you your biggest and brightest fan or your own worst enemy? Do you applaud your accomplishments or do you look at what you didn’t get done? When you’re tired do you stop to nurture yourself or do you push yourself harder with nothing ever being good enough?
In other words, do you accept, respect, and love yourself? If you don’t treat yourself well, how can you expect others to love and respect you dear heart? You teach others how to treat you by how you treat yourself.
So ask yourself, “Do I value myself as much as I value my best friend?” If the answer is no, you’ll want to look at behavioral patterns that started in childhood. I know, I know, everyone tells you to go back to childhood, but there’s a good reason for it.
You learn to talk to yourself the way your parents talked to you as a child. If you grew up in a home where your family was always judging and blaming you for something or you suffered from verbal abuse, or you only felt loved when you accomplished something, you can bet you’ve carried that performance addict personality and judging, blaming negative self-talk into your adulthood.
As a child you don’t have the ability to discern fact from fiction so if you believe everything your parents and authority figures tell you—holy moly, how are you ever going to sparkle? If your parents doled out detrimental beliefs, slowly but surely the truth of who you are got buried and you developed an unhealthy relationship to yourself.
But here’s the great news: their beliefs were based on THEIR experiences and had nothing to do with you! And they meant no harm—they were just seeing things through their own lens and have no other perspective to draw upon.
What you must get is that all the bad beliefs you grew up accepting about yourself are not who you are. The reality is you were born perfect with a brilliant diamond of light at your core. This is your unique essence, your truth. You don’t have to DO anything to prove your worth.
Just being you, right here, right now, means you are incredibly SPECIAL and VALUABLE.
To fully grasp this truth, sit quietly, imagine a beam of pure, sparkling Divine white light coming down from the heavens and entering your body. As this light touches the core of your Being, see your soul light up just like a Tiffany diamond showcased under the brightest of lights – its brilliance taking your breath away. When you connect to this energy, fully feeling it and befriending it you will understand who you really are. Get to know YOU and your MAGNIFICENCE and you will become your biggest groupie:-)
